Experience Floatation Therapy in Cambridge
Floating is an alternative form of relaxation and stress relief.
It’s particularly popular with people who suffer from long-term chronic back pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia, migraines, stress related health problems, heavily pregnant women and those who travel and just need to unwind.
The buoyancy created by the dense Epsom salt solution effectively removes the effects of gravity on the body. This provides the muscle with an optimal environment to truly relax, allowing the alleviation of pain and healing the physical body.
What is floatation therapy?
Inside the floatation tank, 500kg of Epsom salts are dissolved into 1000 litres of water, creating a deep solution (saltier than the Dead Sea), which is heated to 35.5 ˚C (skin temperature).
Insulated from external noise and distractions inside the float pod, the quietness and the darkness (lights can be left on for those that feel uncomfortable in the dark) will allow the mind to drift into a deep state of mental and physical relaxation.
The ultra-deep relaxation of floating also ‘resets’ the body’s hormonal and metabolic balance, strengthening resistance to and accelerating recovery from the effects of stress, illness, injury or strenuous exercise.
Improve Sleep: Provides the most optimal environment for the mind and body. An hour of floating has the restful effect of up to four hours of sleep.
Alleviate Stress: Improves blood circulation and the distribution of oxygen and nutrients. Reduces blood pressure and heart rate.
Reduce Pain: Provides the body with a zero gravity. Reduce pressure on back, hips and joints. Encourages muscle and joint regeneration.
Promotes higher learning and creativity: Aids to develop mental clarity, alertness and creativity.
Enhance mental focus: Provides the mind an environment to focus without external distraction. Increases self-awareness and motivation.
Improve Athletic Performance: Accelerates muscular recovery after strenuous physical activities. Improve visualisation of sporting goals and tactical visualisation.

Before I started Floatation Therapy I felt stressed and had difficulty sleeping which resulted in being tired all the time. I wanted to find a way to relax so I sought help from my doctor, who referred me to Loulous Day Spa, as the benefits listed with floating were exactly what I was looking for.
I feel a lot better and I don't feel so tired anymore. It hasn't necessarily improved my sleeping patterns, but I now wake up feeling revitalised and refreshed.
I use to feel quite down all the time and found it hard to deal with stress. I am now noticeably happier, and it feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
Since my first float session I look forward to taking time out for myself to let the floatation therapy help me relax and reset.
I would recommend it to everyone! Especially for people with stressful lives, or athletes. Just to find time for yourself and relax.
